Position Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Biomedical Research is responsible for conducting and coordinating basic science research activities aimed at growing institutional research funding portfolios, promoting research opportunities, as well as supporting activities and operations of the Clinical Outcomes Research and Education Center (CORE) and the basic science research laboratory. In addition, this individual will promote the 6-point Roseman Mastery Learning model and utilize it in the educational process to plan, develop and deliver instructional materials to meet Block learning outcomes. This person will collaborate with other faculty, preceptors and clinical personnel to provide optimum learning opportunities for students and serve on university and college ad hoc committees.
This individual will devote 50% FTE in Research, and 50% FTE in Teaching.
Research duties will be managed by the CORE Research Manager, and teaching duties will be managed by the Director of Biomedical Science.
Essential Functions:
Support the smooth operations of the CORE Center and the basic science research laboratory
Conduct original, high-impact biomedical research with a focus on basic science, oral and systemic health, or other areas, that contributes to the institution’s mission
Mentor dental students and residents in research initiatives, providing guidance on study design, methodology, data analysis, and dissemination of results through presentations and publications
Actively pursue external funding opportunities to support research projects and build collaborative partnerships
Organize, coordinate and conduct research meetings, trainings, conferences, presentations, seminars, and workshops
Ensure compliance with all requirements for the University and various funding agencies
Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct courses in the day, evening, or on weekends on any Roseman University campus as assigned.
Teach all classes/blocks according to an approved course syllabus
Keep students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements
Ensure that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
Participate in program and curriculum review and development and student learning outcomes initiatives
Qualifications:
PhD in biology, physiology, microbiology, or biomedical related areas
Teaching and research skills
Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity
Excellent organizational and time management skills; and the ability to proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously
