The Director of Operations will ensure operational excellence and drive profitability, effectively managing risk, schedules, and budgets for projects. To proactively exceed client expectations and achieve sustainable, profitable growth.
What are the Key Objectives:
Responsible for P&L of all projects, including job cost comparisons, projecting, project conditions, staffing, productivity, documentation, quality, safety, compliance with corporate goals, policies, procedures, etc.
Participates in formulating project plans and monitors team execution pursuant to contractual and client obligations. Establishes and maintains key performance indicators through Procore.
Oversees pre-construction duties ensuring the operations team is assigned to each project and general conditions and design build plans are reviewed and reflected in estimates.
Establishes general conditions models, verifies program schedules, and ensures bid package strategy.
Monitors active projects through Procore (schedule, budget, meetings, observations/reports). Actively participates in project meetings with assigned operations team. Attends monthly project profitability meetings and ensures project managers are prepared to present to executive leadership team. Conducts and records monthly Project Management meetings. Conducts monthly onsite project visits.
Challenges project teams to formulate plans for early project completion and ensure project buyouts are completed within 6 weeks of contract award.
Maintains ECS Policy & Procedure manual in conjunction with the Senior Operations Manager. Sets annual training agenda and attends with the ECS leadership team. Ensures compliance with corporate goals, policies, and procedures for all direct reports and provides non-compliance reports.
Maintains, trains, and executes all aspects of the safety program.
Develops best practices based on industry knowledge. Manages direct reports with clear understanding of responsibilities, authority, behavior, accountability, and methods of measurement, with weekly pulse meetings.
What You Offer:
Bachelor’s in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture is preferred.
Ten (10) years prior experience in running commercial construction projects with three (3) years in a supervisory role.
Experience with retail and medical. Experience in multi-family, mixed use, and public projects is preferred.
Three (3) years of experience in design build.
Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, and building information modeling.
Core Competencies:
In-depth working understanding of construction trades and building systems, documentation processes, design build process and reviewing scopes of work.
Subcontractor management experience.
Strong interpersonal skills, with customer service orientation (verbal and written).
Analytical, multi-tasking, detail-oriented with effective problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
