Description

The Software Test Engineer will contribute to the verification and validation of software for medical devices in an established engineering organization. Responsibilities include the development and execution of software test plans and protocols in accordance with the company's Quality System. This is a full-time position and will require reporting to our offices located in Los Gatos, CA.

Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience

Test Planning & Design: Develop and maintain software test plans, test protocols, and test cases based on requirements and design documents.

Test Execution: Execute tests, both manually and with automation tools, to identify defects in application software and device firmware.

Defect Reporting & Tracking: Document software anomalies, including description, severity, and priority, per Quality guidelines.

Collaboration: Work closely with multiple engineering disciplines, and other stakeholders, to ensure product quality and to meet project goals.

Tool Development: Design, implement, and document non-product software tools to increase test efficiency and accuracy of validation activities.

Education & Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or similar field.

3 to 5 years proven work experience as a software test engineer. Experience using IEC 62304 to fulfill FDA verification requirements a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and describe software issues in both application software and device firmware.

Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate test results and defects to engineering, Quality and other stakeholders.

Knowledge of testing methodologies: Familiarity with different testing methodologies, such as black box, white box, and gray box testing.

Tools and Technologies: Practical knowledge of C/C++ required. Working experience with bug tracking, requirements management, code repository tools such as JIRA and Git preferred. Experience with test frameworks such as Google Test Framework a plus.

Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. In addition to those factors, we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate, and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance, contributions, and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $100,000 to $150,000 + equity + benefits.
