Berlin Patten Ebling is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Financial Controller. The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Controller. The Assistant Controller prepares and maintains financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
Supports the Controller with day-to-day operations
Review bank reconciliations of general ledger accounts
Review the general ledger coding for consistency
Assists with ensuring proper internal controls are in place, including compliance with Company Policies and Procedures
Prepares and develops various monthly and annual reports
Assist with periodic financial audits, including internal audits, external audits, and peer reviews.
Documentation of financial processes
Provides support to respond to information requests from attorneys, agencies, and other departments as needed
Manage a staff of Disbursement Specialists
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Management experience 5+ years
Previous Assistant Controller Experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related Degree Program required
QuickBooks knowledge preferred
Accuracy and attention to detail are a must
Effective written and oral communication with attorneys, staff, and clients
Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality with a track record of trustworthiness
Proven ability to maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times
A professional who fits well in a professional services firm
Financial statement experience (both preparation and analysis)
Complex bank reconciliation experience
Advanced Excel skills
Advanced technology skills and working with complex systems
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
High energy and personable with a positive attitude
Analytical
Able to multitask, be organized, and work in a high-pressure environment
