The Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies of New York University invites applications for a one-year clinical assistant professor of Yiddish language and culture. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2025, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
The teaching load is 6 courses for the year. Courses will include a two-semester sequence of graduate level Academic Yiddish. In addition, the appointee will teach 1-2 undergraduate courses in spoken Yiddish. Additional courses related to Yiddish language and culture will be determined in consultation with the department.

Pay Transparency Statement:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
The appointee is expected to have a doctorate in a field related to Yiddish language and culture.
