We are currently looking to fill a Pre-Press/Make Ready operator position that will be based in Fresno, California.

Key Accountabilities

Participates in the production of high quality labels in a safe and efficient manner by performing Prepress and Make Ready activities including plate mounting, plate management, ink management, requisitioning and issuing materials, and performing departmental audits using attention to detail and established procedures

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Follows safety and operating procedures for all production and ancillary equipment and reports safety hazards to supervisor

Cleans and inspects plates for defects and files them accordingly; reports plate defects for replacements

Mount and demount plates according to production requirements; verifies plate quality prior to use

Mixes, color matches and issues inks using Pantone guides and equipment including measuring scale, ink proofer, spectrodensitometer; returns unused inks to inventory

Records traceability and inventory information into ink management system

Issues and cycle counts raw materials and consumables; requisitions replacements

Operates forklift as assigned

Prints and prioritizes work orders according to production schedule

Provides feedback on production schedule to Leads, Supervisor or Manager, when applicable to support production efficiencies

Assist press operators with set ups and clean ups and assists packer/rewinders as assigned

Performs housekeeping and keeps work area, machines, and equipment clean

Performs routine maintenance on production and ancillary equipment

Completes required documentation for time keeping, housekeeping, and period preventative maintenance

Enters maintenance requests as needed

Meets or exceeds label production targets (KPIs)

Attends and participates periodic production, safety and departmental meetings

Cross trains into other label production department roles

Works as a back-up in other production department roles as assigned

Completes other projects and/or duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Travels to other Sinclair production sites as assigned

High school diploma or general education equivalent (GED) - required

Certificate in Flexo-graphic printing

Experience

Successful completion and execution of in-house job specific training

Mechanical and technical experience

Experience with Flexo-graphic inks and printing

Experience as an ink or plate technician

Skills

General computer literacy

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures

Ability to speak effectively to other employees of the organization

Able to carry out instructions and problem solve in a group or team and independently

Good organizational and communication skills
