Job Description
The Materials Planner will direct materials planning for operations. This role uses data analytics and decision-making skills to work through MRP to ensure machine and purchase orders are processed to meet the MRP requirements to satisfy customer needs. The Planner will work closely with the Operations team to ensure we have materials available and a robust schedule to ship customer orders on time. Responsibilities
Analyze the master schedule & MRP requirements to determine target dates for receiving required materials
Work to ensure there is plan to have all material available before assembly begins
Utilize the ERP system to analyze stock, units on order, future requirements and other production related data
Utilize the master schedule to level-load manufacturing
Analyze and make decisions regarding MO and PO releases for materials
Use data analytics and statistical modeling to determine adequate material stocking levels to support customer needs as well as cash objectives for the business.
Collaborate with other departments to determine status of materials, expedite the flow of materials as needed, and work with engineering for material substitution as required.
Review overdue orders, determine cause of delay, and initiate corrective action.
Requisition materials and establish delivery dates according to job order priorities and material availability.
Monitor project status reports and take necessary actions to maintain on-time performance of the master production schedule.
Track root causes for on time delivery misses / stock-outs and suggest and implement appropriate corrective actions
Review progress towards production plan and maintain production status updates.
Act as a liaison between departments to coordinate workflow.
Proactively work with Purchasing to improve quality and processes, and to reduce shortages and delays.
May partner with suppliers to coordinate, expedite or change delivery schedules.
Back-up other team members as required
Coordinate with other team members to execute daily MRP tasks.
Physically handle paperwork and parts as necessary on the production floor.

Experience with ERP/MRP systems
Proficient with MS Excel, including the use of formulas and conditional formatting
Good math skills
