Job Description
This position reports to the Plant Electrical Superintendent and is responsible for moderately complex engineering projects and directing the work of assigned technical associates to promote increased performance and reliability of machinery and equipment through failure analysis.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results. Safety Certification in system required.
Work with operations and maintenance teams to implement strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability objectives, key performance metrics, and maintenance cost objectives and capital projects execution.
Drive continuous improvement through positive influence, best practices, FMEA, and RCFA.
RCFA facilitation by leading a group to quickly and thoroughly identify and solve latent causes.
Responsible for ensuring projects are compliant with NFPA 70E safety requirements.
Responsible for all aspects of asset management for Electrical Power Distribution (EPD) equipment, including but not limited to:
TG protective relays, exciter, and control system
Emergency Power Supplies (UPS Systems)
Generator and System Grounding
Utility Tie
Load Shed Systems
Capacitor Banks
Switchgear Transformers
Power Cable Feeder Systems
Station and UPS Batteries
Grounding
Lightning Protection of Overhead Lines
Power System Studies
Drawings
Ride Through Protection
Actively participate in monthly best practice calls.
Maintains current gap analysis against GMS requirements.
Provide EPD outage support for mill.
Provide EPD outage support for other mills as needed.
Provides electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design support to the maintenance department and capital engineering department.
Support factory acceptance testing of EPD equipment.
Provides technical assistance and advice as necessary to aid in troubleshooting complex issues in manufacturing processes.
Responsible for management of mill infrared and ultrasonic inspections and corrective action planning of power distribution equipment.
Responsible for maintaining (5) Capital plan for EPD equipment.
Responsible for electrical transformer oil analysis testing program.
Monitor effectiveness of E&I predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials.
Rotate with other leaders to provide electrical Weekend Duty support.
Requrirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance
Strong electrical aptitude
Experience with industrial motor controls, power distribution, AC and DC motors, power drives, DCS/PLC systems and instrumentation
