Structural Steel Sr Fabricator/Welder II
Location: Lakeside,CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: 2nd shift
Compensation: $27- $30/hr DOE
Read and interpret blueprints to determine required materials and assembly processes.
Identify material grades, sizes, and shapes for specific tasks.
Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication-related issues as needed.
Perform cutting, coping, shaping, and fit-up of steel members in accordance with shop drawings using tools such as:
Torch
Grinder
Drill press
Mag drill
Piranha
Cold saw
Track burner
Make necessary markings and center punches for material preparation.
Tack weld and assemble steel components (e.g., stiffener plates, cap plates) to build beams, columns, stairs, and frames of varying complexity and size.
Safely move, flip, and stage materials using overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts.
Operate fabrication equipment including shear and press brake.
Weld components such as base plates, stiffener plates, cap plates, and rebar.
Perform high-quality welds on large frames, including CJP welds, efficiently and accurately.
Replace wire in welding machines as needed.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
GED or High School Diploma required.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in a structural and/or miscellaneous metal fabrication shop.
Strong ability to read blueprints and tape measures.
Must be Certified to tack weld (stick welding required).
Must have current worked experience no large work gap
Must be able to lift move 40lbs, stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
