Billing Clerk

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Billing Clerk is responsible for creating and issuing invoices to customers, collecting and organizing shipping documents, recognizing short shipments and returns and issuing credit memos, filing, scanning and working with billing team lead to perform daily tasks.

Essential Functions:

Collect and review daily BOL’s against spreadsheet created from computer generated report of shipments of product

Ensure invoices are sent via mail, email or EDI daily to customers in a timely manner

Daily scanning of BOL’s and load sheets to shared drive

Verify all loads shipped are accounted for and invoices have been created accurately

Create miscellaneous invoices as required.

Update computer system with short shipments and damages as they occur for next day invoicing

Inform management of any discrepancies, missing paperwork, or other concerns

Identify and add any additional charges which may need to be added to an invoice in daily work, i.e. freight charges, temp recorder charges, chep pallets non participant fee

File invoices, BOL’s and Load sheets

Work with credit department to resolve shipping/payment discrepancies

Respond to customer calls and inquiries

Other assignments as required

Job Qualifications:

Required Skills

Proficient math and data entry skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills

Ability to set priorities and follow up

Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.

Must have ability to work with all levels of personnel

Preferred

2+ Years Billing experience preferred

2 year degree
