The Windows Engineer reports to the IT Systems Manager and is responsible for maintaining and upgrading physical servers, hypervisors, SAN/NAS appliances, data backup systems, deployment of new systems and maintaining current systems. You will be the lead on planning projects, troubleshooting issues, and providing overall solutions. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, are software upgrades, system patching, and testing new implementations of technology. I
Duties and responsibilities
Install, troubleshoot and maintain virtualized server environments running VMware, Hyper-V & Nutanix AHV at an expert level
Manage storage resources, including NVMe-oF/iSCSI SANs, NAS, DAS, and Hyperconverged storage infrastructure.
Configure systems for high availability, including strategies for backup and recovery, failover, load balancing, and full redundancy.
Deploy applicable server patches and perform system backups of infrastructure system configurations
Maintain and improve Veeam data backups in alignment with data retention objectives
Manage KMS systems for data at rest encryption key used by hypervisor and storage platforms
Manage multi-forest and multi-domain Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS
Proactively monitor systems, report/and troubleshoot issues.
Participate in and coordinate after-hours maintenance events
Collaborates with other team members to resolve problems with software/infrastructure systems
Provide capacity planning and forecast of storage growth
Plan and perform hardware upgrades or replacements
Develop and implement departmental documentation and procedures.
Collaborate with other IT personnel and provide training and guidance to the team
Provide Tier II & III/other support via our helpdesk ticketing system. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Must be comfortable with in-person, over-the-phone and web conferencing communications.
Manage, troubleshoot, maintain, and install Exchange on-premise.
Manage SCCM applications, updates, and other packages
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly, upgrade administrative tools and utilities, and configure/add new services as necessary.
Support and maintain a variety of Linux-based systems
Support and manage Asterisks Linux-based VoIP phones
Participate in monthly after-hours maintenance events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field. A combination of an Associate’s degree, industry certifications or significant work experience will also be considered.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing virtualization and storage systems.
Experience with Windows 10, Windows 2012/2016/2019 Server, Active Directory, GPO, Exchange, SCCM, MDM, Virtualization technology and Linux
Experience with designing Windows domain architectures, include but not limited to Active Directory, GPOs, and permissions
