An oncology clinic is seeking a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join their team at their Round Rock North location. The MLT is responsible for:
Responsible for high complexity testing
Routine urinalysis hematology and chemistry testing
Move specimens from collection to spinning them down to preparing them to lab
Hands on with specimens, perform testing and prepare to lab.
Success is communication and asking questions and adjusting to the fast pace
Specimens get collected quickly and they start testing in house so when the provider is ready to see patient results need to be ready.
Assists with performing phlebotomy and collecting appropriate specimens from patients as ordered. Assures pre-authorization and completes appropriate consent forms (ABN) prior to collection of limited coverage tests.
Assists with special procedures as needed (i.e. bone marrows in the room).
Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
Performs specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology and Immunology specimens.
Maintains and operates all laboratory equipment. Performs daily, weekly and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated
Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies and documents all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators, and reagents.
Participates in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results at least once a year.
Must Haves:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Lab Technologist, Medical Lab Scientist or similar title.
Associate OR Bachelor's degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or related health care field.
AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification required.
Plusses:
Hematology or Chemistry background preferred.
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
