Georgia State University s Convocation Center is a multipurpose facility that can host a variety of events. The multi-level, 200,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility can accommodate as many as 7,300 people for basketball games, 7,500 for graduation events and 8,000 for concerts. The facility also includes classroom and academic support spaces as well as the ability to accommodate large conferences and sports tournaments.

The Convocation Center is seeking to hire a Convocation Coordinator. This position is primarily responsible for the successful maintenance and operating performance of the Georgia State University (GSU) Convocation Center.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Under the advisement of the Convocation Center Manager, plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all activities and staff engaged in maintaining and operating the Convocation Center. This position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the facility by supporting and coordinating with GSU units serving the facility including operations, maintenance, event production, food and beverage, booking, marketing, ticket operations, event services, security, and parking.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Assist with the operation of the GSU Convocation Center; ensures policies and procedures are followed.

Ensure all SOP are implemented and adhered to by all part-time staff.

Greets the public and works with parties interested in utilizing the facility; provides information on services and spaces available under the supervision of the Convocation Center Manager.

Evaluate facility practices and recommend improvements to support the needs of the facility, safety and/or efficiency in compliance with federal and State laws and GSU policy and procedure.

Follow directives from Convocation Center Manager to implement and coordinate plans, programs, and events to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Conduct post-event operational reviews and submit financial data to the Convocation Center manager.

Maintain and build effective working relationships with internal and external customers and governing authority.

Provide accurate and timely responses and constant and effective communication to all customers, vendors and stakeholders.

Organize and lead facility conversion and setup.

Edit and review Facility Use Agreements with external clients under the supervision of the Convocation Center Manager.

Track revenues and expenses associated with events.

Generate estimates and invoices for clients.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Must have, or obtain, a current Georgia Driver's License, in accordance with Georgia DMV Driver's License eligibility requirements.

Preferred Requirements:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).

High degree of attention to detail.

Previous related experience in a university setting is a plus.
