Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Mold Setter to join our plastic injection molding team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining injection molds, ensuring machines run consistent quality parts as per production standards and process sheets. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot molding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and changeover plastic injection molds according to production schedules and established procedures.
Ensure molds are properly secured, water lines connected correctly, and appropriate water flow and thermolator temperatures are set.
Load material into hoppers and set drying parameters as specified on the process sheet.
Start up molding machines and ensure parts meet quality and performance standards.
Troubleshoot cosmetic or performance issues and make necessary process adjustments.
Safely operate all required equipment, including hot runner controllers, chain hoists, forklifts, stand-up lifts, press monitoring systems, and robots.
Perform routine mold cleaning and maintenance.
Complete and maintain all required production tracking and lot control paperwork.
Notify the Crew Leader/Lead Person once the mold is ready for normal production.
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of experience in plastic injection mold setting preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of injection molding processes.
Ability to read and interpret process sheets and work instructions.
Skilled in troubleshooting and process optimization.
Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor environment with moderate noise levels.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Frequent exposure to moving machinery and occasional exposure to high temperatures.
