Title - Accounting Manager
Tenure - Full Time, Temp to perm
Location - Millsboro, DE
Hours - M-F 8 am-4:30 pm
Pay Rate - $36 - $38/hr.
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the general ledger and financial reporting processes for the live operations division. This includes developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate reporting of both financial and managerial data. The role requires strong analytical and leadership skills, as well as the ability to manage detailed financial data in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain accounting functions related to live operations, including budgeting, cost analysis, and general ledger oversight.
Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries; ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Supervise and support accounting team members, including payables and operational accounting staff.
Lead the month-end close process and ensure financial reporting deadlines are met.
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Monitor and validate weekly operational data submissions, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
Review and analyze weekly cost estimates and performance metrics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate operational results, budget variances, and financial trends.
Coordinate annual budgeting and forecast processes for live operations.
Support external audit processes by preparing audit documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
Oversee periodic inventory inspections and coordinate year-end inventory counts with auditors.
Ensure compliance with internal control and financial reporting (ICFR) standards.
Respond to ad hoc requests from corporate stakeholders or head office as needed.
Review housing incentives, grower payments, and contract compliance related to live operations.
Analyze benchmarking data (e.g., Agristats) and respond to internal and external stakeholder inquiries.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for accounting policies and operational procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, agriculture, or live operations.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with IFRS is an asset.
Experience with cost accounting principles and practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, MTECH, or similar platforms) is a plus.
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and support a high-performance team environment.
