The Sample Processing Laboratory Technician will support the operations of Precision Genomics’ Production Sample Processing lab. This position plays a critical role in meeting high-throughput genotyping targets by performing both manual and automated laboratory procedures, primarily within a PCR lab environment. The technician will collaborate with a team in a fast-paced, results-driven setting.
Laboratory Technician Responsibilities:
Receive, unbox, and inspect incoming plant material (leaf and seed) in accordance with internal, local, and federal regulations.
Perform manual and automated sample processing using laboratory equipment.
Prepare and maintain lab consumables and supplies.
Conduct PCR and related workflows.
Use a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to track samples and results.
Maintain organization and cleanliness in the work area.
Communicate clearly with peers and supervisors across shifts.
Laboratory Technician Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
1–2 years of experience in a laboratory or high-throughput environment (lab, manufacturing, food service, retail, shipping, etc.).
Reliable attendance and flexibility to work occasional off-shift hours during peak workloads.
Comfort operating and troubleshooting laboratory automation equipment.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under time constraints.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint); advanced Excel preferred.
Experience in a production or sample-processing environment handling large sample volumes.
Familiarity with laboratory automation and mechanical aptitude.
Experience using LIMS or other sample tracking systems.
