Position Summary
The Electrical Mechanical Foundry Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of electrical and mechanical systems within a foundry setting. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment used in the foundry processes, including furnaces, casting machines, oven furnaces, and other machinery. The technician ensures that all equipment functions optimally to maintain production efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
Pay Rate: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on complex foundry equipment, including but not limited to furnaces, oven furnaces, and casting systems.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain foundry equipment. Perform routine inspections preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
Lead and execute equipment installations, upgrades, and major repairs while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
Train and mentor junior mechanics, sharing best practices in equipment repair and maintenance.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve equipment-related issues impacting production.
Document maintenance activities, creating reports and logs to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure that electrical and mechanical systems comply with all relevant regulatory standards and codes.
Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical problems using troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools.
Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts to ensure quick access during repairs or replacements to minimize downtime
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Required:
5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, preferably in a foundry or heavy industrial setting.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
Strong ability in fabrication and welding.
Strong electrical understanding.
Preferred:
Electrician certificate or license.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
Certification in welding or fabrication techniques.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies:
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
Experience with maintenance tools for tracking work orders and equipment performance.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations specific to foundry operations.

Work is primarily conducted in a foundry or manufacturing setting with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and steel-toe boots is required. This job will require employee to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and walk/climb stairs and ladders, and extend arms and hands to reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually moderate to intense. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions
