The Floating Hospital provides compassionate healthcare and social support to New York City families living in shelters and domestic violence safe houses—regardless of insurance status, or ability to pay. We bring care, dignity, and support to those who need it most.
The Floating Hospital is seeking a talented and motivated Graphic Designer to support our in-house creative team. This is a pivotal mid-level role for a visual storyteller who is skilled in both digital and print design, thrives in a mission-driven environment and is eager to make a difference through impactful, human-centered design.
You will work closely with our Design Director and marketing team to bring our brand to life across a wide range of platforms—from websites and emails to social media, fundraising campaigns, event materials and more. The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of professional design experience, strong digital skills and a great eye for detail and typography. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow into a lead design role while supporting meaningful work that helps vulnerable families get the care they need.
• Collaborate with the Design Director to create on-brand, on-strategy visual assets across digital and print media.
• Design website layouts, graphics, animations, icons and infographics.
• Produce email, newsletter and social media graphics that drive engagement and fundraising.
• Prepare production-ready files for print and digital outputs (flyers, signage, apparel, etc.).
• Assist with light photo editing and event photography as needed.
• Help ensure consistency and accessibility across all visual communications.
• Observe design trends and bring fresh thinking to projects while honoring brand guidelines.
• Support web development partners by providing assets and design documentation.
This role is part-time at 21hours a week.

Requirements
• 3–5+ years of professional design experience in an agency, nonprofit or in-house creative team.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat).
• Experience with digital-first design, including websites, email, and social media.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and WordPress.
• Strong grasp of layout, typography, color and image optimization.
• Experience preparing files for both print and digital production.
• Familiarity with accessibility and UX/UI principles.
• Motion graphics, photography or video editing skills are a plus.
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and time management.
• Collaborative spirit and interest in working on mission-driven campaigns.
This is a hybrid position. Candidates should be based in the New York City area and able to work in-office when needed for meetings, events, or production days. Most work will be done remotely, with flexibility based on project timelines and schedules.
Salary Description
$40 per hour
