Sr Staff Software Engineer- Mainframe

On-site perm position

Job Description

Owns 100% of life insurance policy administration mainframe-based application architecture.

Provides technical oversight for all 15-20 software engineers implementing changes.

Ensures compliance with design patterns and overall software standards.

Provides technical leadership for custom legacy COBOL application development.

Executes a roadmap for mainframe-based life insurance policy administration software modernization.

Collaborates with teams to advance application architecture by introducing new technologies.

Grows a culture of agile and analytical mindset within the team.

Responsible for managing product and sprint backlogs for software changes.

Conducts hands-on discovery, data modeling, and development.

Oversees work assignments for junior peers and estimates new work.

Ensures adherence to designs, policies, and standards for data security.

Coaches and develops associates through performance management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Critical Information

Hiring Salary Range: $138,500-$175,000

Location: Onsite - Fremont, MI

Job Requirements

M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and experience (Required).

15 years of agile software engineering change management experience (10 years in leadership) (Required).

10 years of experience in life insurance policy administration software (Required).

7 years managing a team of COBOL policy administration software engineers (Required).

Ability to simplify large-scale system changes.

Agile mindset and passion for innovation and continuous integration.

Effectively lead teams while fostering relationships at all levels.
