Bilingual Interpreter - Chuukese (Beginning 2025/26 School Year)

Schedule: 6.0 hrs/day, 191 days/year; 7:45am - 2:15pm
Potential reduction hours due to Wednesday early release, early dismissals for parent conferences, holidays, and last day of school; reduction hours subject to change. Job assignment and/or building assignment are subject to change based on program needs determined by the district.
Pay Range: PSE 1 Salary Schedule

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as a liaison between families and school or district staff.
Respond to and prioritize requests from all schools and departments within the school district.
Support Chuukese families at scheduled family engagement events such as conferences and
family nights.
Translate school and/or classroom-based communications within the communicated timeline.
Work with individuals and/or groups of bilingual students on assigned tasks progressing
toward goals.
Assist the general and/or special education staff and administration in maintaining the necessary records.
Actively participate with the successful implementation of the educational program of bilingual students including administering state assessments, and training of staff
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
Must have regular and consistent attendance required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
Previous experience or training in working with bilingual students preferred
Demonstrated fluency both verbal and written, in Chuukese and English in a variety of grade levels, subject and ability levels from preschool through 12th grade; other languages preferred
Demonstrated ability to translate, subject matter content (e.g. reading, math, written language) into Chuukese for bilingual students
Demonstrated awareness of developmental stages and the unique individuality of children and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of cultural/economic diversity among individual students
Demonstrated ability to efficiently operate all commonly used office equipment and platforms such as typewriter, computer, copier, calculator google drive, Microsoft Suite, Skyward, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with school personnel, families, staff members and bilingual students.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in classroom activities and instructional responsibilities as assigned by classroom teacher(s) and/or special education staff
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise bilingual students in all areas
Demonstrated ability to work accurately with student records and data collection
Demonstrated ability to be a self-motivator towards assigned duties
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters appropriately and ethically
Willingness to participate in in-service offerings or local workshops
Demonstrated ability to work independently under the direction of the classroom teacher(s) and/or special education staff while accepting direction and constructive criticism
Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written communications
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and be able to project a positive, friendly, caring attitude toward others
Neat, clean personal appearance and personal traits that make him/her a good role model for students; work apparel should be appropriate for a professional and safe work environment
