Position Summary and Responsibilities

Vassar College invites applications for the position of Lifeguard. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall safety of all patrons in the pool area. Job responsibilities include:

Arriving promptly each day for scheduled shift

Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shift

Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions

Maintaining a clean pool environment

Enforcing rules to ensure all patrons are safe

Act as a first responder in the events of an emergency in the pool

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Current Lifeguard certification

CPR and First Aid certifications

Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test

Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of lifeguard experience
