Job Description:

The Research Assistant will conduct experiments in the field of spatial regulation of gene expression, specifically identifying possible RNA-binding protein (RBP) that regulates RNA localization.

The Research Assistant will assist the PI in experiments involving general molecular biology procedures, cell culture, and basic laboratory management. The Research Assistant will also learn and apply a methodology to map RNA-RBP interactions. The primary purpose of this position is to help the lab make progress toward its research goals of dissecting spatial regulation of gene expression. The Research Assistant will work closely with other staff (postdocs, graduate students, undergraduate students) to perform experiments. This position will perform experiments according to established laboratory protocols, and will provide technical assistance, as instructed, toward the development of new procedures.

Using cutting-edge single-molecule imaging, the lab of Dr. Weihan Li investigates the spatial regulation of gene expression, focusing on how cells accurately position mRNAs and proteins to ensure their proper function. The lab aims to uncover the mechanisms that regulate the spatial organization of gene expression and determine the consequences of its dysregulation.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of one year from the date of hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
