The Machinist, Maintenance supports operations by fabricating, modifying, and repairing metal parts and components for industrial equipment and systems. Working under the direction of senior maintenance staff or supervisors, this role operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce parts according to technical specifications. This position plays a vital role in sustaining operations within a secure facility by ensuring availability of precision components needed for equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools to manufacture or modify parts for maintenance and repair purposes
• Assist with mechanical repairs by fabricating or machining replacement parts to precise tolerances
• Follow detailed instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy and fit
• Inspect finished parts for defects using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Maintain and clean shop tools and equipment in compliance with safety protocols
• Support other maintenance trades by providing timely machining support
• Document completed work and communicate effectively with maintenance personnel and supervisors
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in machining, metalworking, or mechanical maintenance
• Proficiency with standard machine shop equipment (lathe, mill, grinder, etc.)
• Familiarity with basic mechanical drawings and tolerancing
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance
• Valid driver’s license
Other Job Requirements
• Must have an active (or ability to obtain) TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
• Local candidates preferred.
• Experience working in a secure facility or defense-related industrial environment
• Experience supporting facility or utility maintenance through part fabrication
• Exposure to CMMS systems or technical maintenance documentation
• Completion of trade school or vocational training in machining or mechanical technologies
Salary Range
45,000 to 82,000
