Mechanical Draftsman

**Requirements:**

This position requires the ability to produce shop/production drawings from sketches, actual parts, architectural drawings, structural drawings, design drawings and assembly drawings using Solid Works, Draftsight, ProNest or similar CAD Computer Programs. Must maintain print/drawing files and distribution to assure latest prints/drawings are being used in production. Works with Sales employees to produce Estimates/Costs/Estimates for Customers. Must have knowledge of all types of materials required to produce jobs such as Sheet, Plate, Beams, Channels, Angles, Rounds, Flat Bar, Castings, carbon, alloy, stainless, aluminum, structural shapes, pipe, tubing, angle, flats, squares, grating, and expanded metal. Knowledge and understanding of the processes in all departments of LMF, such as:

- - Steel Prep -- Shearing & CNC -- Nest / Burn

- CNC Machining -- Lathes, Verticals, Horizontals

- Manual Machining - Lathes, Verticals, Horizontals, Tapping, Broaching, Surface Grinding, Drilling, etc.

- Supply Products

- Warehouse Material (saw cutting)

- Fab Shop (fab/weld/bend/roll/brake/blast/paint etc.)

- Castings -- Ductile and Cast Iron

- Transportation / Trucking

- ETC

**Education** (preferred):

High school diploma

2 year drafting degree or 3 year OJT

**Experience** (preferred):

2 year drafting degree or 3 year OJT

Foundational knowledge of Solid Works and Draftsight software, or Similar CAD Programs such as ProNest, Etc

**Position/Overview**

Must be able to read and understand architectural, structural, mechanical and assembly drawings, tolerances and finishes. Will be responsible for approving and issuing drawings to the manufacturing departments, as instructed by management. Have good communication skills to deal with customers, engineers, designers, employees, and the public. Will be required to work closely with the shop foremen, fabricators, machinist, and customers. Must have the ability to use precision measuring devices. Helps Estimate jobs /orders & put jobs in the shop in a timely manner. Maintains all cutting lists for jobs. Creates and maintains material take offs from customer supplied drawings. _Hlk183085844}Must be proficient in the English Language.

**Equipment / Systems:**

- Office equipment (Telephone, Copier, Scanner, Digital Document System)

- LMF Computer system (AS400)

- Personal Computer -- (Software) Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook

- Experience with solid modeling software, Solid Works & Draftsight, Pronest, or similar CAD programs

- Measuring Devices (Tape Measures, Scales, Micrometer, Etc)

- 3-D Software a plus

**Accountabilities**:

- ISO9001-2015 Quality System

- Does Material take off from drawings and quotes

- Produce Production drawings from sample parts & sketches

- Take dimensions in the field & at customer's plant as needed, & creates drawings for quotes & production

- Communicate with Customers on a daily basis

- Communicate with Department Management

- Tolerances & Finishes related to metals, fabrications, & machining

- Mathematics

- Type of Materials used to produce the job (HR/A36, A572, T-1, 4130,4140,400/500 etc)

- Approve and issues drawings to manufacturing departments

- Helps quote and estimate jobs / orders

- Create BOM for jobs and distribute to shops and Job Cost Processor

- Work closely with Sales on all pricing and updates on current and new products/projects

- Place jobs in the shops with up-to-date drawings and cutting lists

- Ensure all drawings to current revisions and make changes if needed

- Answer phones & emails

**Drafting:**

- Make drawings needed for production or quoting process

- Make in field drawings at customer's request

- File all drawings in correct location of LMF Server (WI-20-003, Electr nic Filing of Drawings)

- Prepare detailed 2D Drawings and flat patterns necessary for fabrication

- Ensure Op-60-002, Revised Print Procedure is followed

- Print Drawings needed for production or quoting purposes

- Edit drawings before distributing for outsource quoting or production

- Complete FM-60-001 Revised Print Notification
