JOB FUNCTION:

Designs, develops, and tests new equipment based upon market requirements. Primary duties include creating new products and designs, revising existing products, including research and development.

Takes equipment design from concept to prototype to final equipment release. Leads design projects and partners with engineering team members. Collaborates with various departments to complete projects and assignments.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must reside within a commutable distance of our Grafton, WI location to be considered.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Designs approved new equipment concepts to include all fabrication, purchase, and assembly details required to build new equipment

Reviews existing company equipment for potential design improvements and fabrication cost savings

Works with the sales department and applications engineering to determine viability and risk of new potential machinery design

Works with sales and applications engineering to determine if the proposed equipment will meet the project's requirements

Works with the purchasing department and external vendors to determine budgetary pricing on viable projects

Presents machine concepts with budgetary cost estimates to determine equipment purchase price and market viability

Assists in assembly and testing of new R & D equipment

Provides sales and applications engineering full equipment specifications and capabilities of newly developed machinery

Enters all required equipment into company ERP system

Works with the purchasing and accounting departments to ensure proper purchase orders are issued to internal and external vendors on R & D systems

Travel approximately 10-20% as part of R & D investigative research

Other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field required; master's degree in engineering would be helpful

Five to ten years' mechanical machine design experience in packaging machinery or related business is required

Proficient in 3D parametric modeling and 2D AutoCAD required

Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivated

Strong project management skills

Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and meet project deadlines

Experience mentoring or supervising people helpful

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel required

Prior experience working with an ERP system preferred

Requires a valid driver's license and must be insurable

Requires a valid passport to travel outside of the United States

Flexibility to travel 10-20% based on customer needs and project requirements
