Embedded Systems Engineer

Full-time, on-site position

Acumentrics is seeking a hands-on, experienced Embedded Systems Engineer with expertise in Linux programming, web development, and networking protocols. The Embedded Systems Engineer will primarily be responsible for developing and implementing new platforms for SNMP networking for complex systems, specifically focused on rugged uninterruptible power supply (RUPS) solutions.

Embedded Systems Engineer Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer and/or electrical engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred

Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in Linux programming for products

Demonstrated working knowledge of C++ & SNMP

Knowledge of embedded hardware platforms, including microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, PIC, MSP430) and digital signal processors (DSPs)Experience with version control systems such as Git, Subversion, or CVS

Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CAN bus, RS485) and hardware interfacing

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, LaTeX, or Confluence

Proficient in implementing communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN) in firmware applications

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash

Demonstrated experience in analog and digital circuit design, as well as the ability to troubleshoot electrical schematics

Experience in managing projects from conception to deployment

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, including cross-functional team collaboration and independent project work

communicate effectively with stakeholders;

Experience with hardware debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters)

Experience with testing frameworks and tools for unit testing, integration testing, and system validation

Knowledge of electrical practices and board bring up, a plus

Embedded Systems Engineer Job Responsibilities

Develop and implement SNMP networking platforms for rugged uninterruptible power supply (RUPS) solutions; redesign existing SNMP networking module

Develop and enhance communication protocols

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define requirements and document firmware specifications and design processes

Create and maintain tools and scripts to support production processes

Provide maintenance and support for legacy firmware systems; ensure continued functionality and reliability while integrating improvements as needed

Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides

Offer training and mentorship to junior engineers and interns

Participate in design and code reviews

Conduct research on new technologies and methodologies

On occasion, gather customer feedback on firmware to inform future development and enhancements

Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in firmware development and embedded systems

Attend staff, departmental, and other required meetings and trainings
