Randolph-Macon College is accepting applications for a Director of Campus Safety.

Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and serving as a member of the Student Affairs Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Campus Safety is responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, and daily operations of the campus safety department (a non-sworn safety & security operation). This role ensures the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs and policies that provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors.

The Director works collaboratively with campus stakeholders, local law enforcement and Fire/EMS agencies.

The Director is also a member of the Hanover County Local Emergency Planning Committee.

Responsibilities * Oversee all safety and security operations, including staffing, training, budgeting, and policy enforcement.

* Direct, manage and supervise the Department of Campus Safety.

* Develop and implement crime prevention strategies, policies, procedures and training objectives.

* Implement standards for patrol, investigations, special events planning, emergency medical response, crime prevention, parking and safety programs which are applicable to all campus law enforcement agencies.

* Manages access control systems and surveillance operations.

* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including the Clery Act Reporting.

Serves as the Campus Safety Survey Administrator for the Clery Act.

* Conducts internal affairs' investigations.

* Investigates complaints from the college community, as applicable.

* Conducts regular threat assessments and risk evaluations.

* Inform administration of critical incidents in a timely manner.

Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice or equivalent experience and training in campus safety or law enforcement required.

* Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, campus safety, or emergency management.

Experience in a higher education environment preferred.

* Knowledge of campus safety best practices, state and federal compliance regulations.

* Training in the National Incident Management System (ICS). * Must be able to undergo a satisfactory criminal background investigation, hold a valid driver's license, and have a satisfactory motor vehicle record by insurance standards.

* Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.

* Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Certified Campus Safety Officer or eligible to obtain certification within first 12 months.

* Ability to listen, evaluate, react, and recommend courses of action for delicate situations to a desirable or reasonable outcome.

* Ability to defuse situations.

* Capability to work with a variety of constituents and teams to further the mission of the College.
