Description:

Paralegal – Agricultural & Rural Property (Cheltenham-based)

An established law firm with a strong presence in rural and agricultural matters is seeking an organised and proactive Paralegal to join their Cheltenham office. This role offers a great opportunity to support a busy team working on complex rural land transactions, with a focus on administrative and procedural tasks to enable fee earners to concentrate on high-value work.

The successful candidate will provide essential support on matters such as sales, purchases, leases, easements, options, and other legal processes related to agricultural and estate land. Responsibilities will centre around deeds management, Land Registry and Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) applications, and general file and document handling.

While previous legal or property-related experience is desirable, full training will be provided. A genuine interest in the countryside and rural property is highly beneficial.

This is a predominantly office-based role, with potential for development and progression over time for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage deeds and related documentation

Assist with SDLT forms and payment processing

Handle Land Registry submissions and respond to queries

General administrative duties including document scanning, correspondence, and filing

File management and compliance support (opening, closing, and maintenance)

Diary management, meeting coordination, and handling phone enquiries

Conduct legal searches and assemble supporting documentation

Data entry, article drafting, and information analysis

Organise case files and support client relationship management

Attend internal/external meetings and take minutes when required

Occasionally travel to other offices (expenses covered)

Candidate Profile:

Strong literacy and numeracy

Competent IT skills (comparable to Level 2 of standard competency frameworks)

Proven customer service experience in a professional setting

Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working style

Strong organisational and multitasking abilities

Prior experience in a similar administrative or paralegal role preferred

Willingness to learn and contribute both independently and as part of a team
