Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Porcelain Department Manager to lead our ceramic team in producing high-quality, esthetically lifelike restorations. This role requires deep technical knowledge in contouring and morphology, along with leadership capabilities to drive team performance, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Contouring & Morphology Leadership
Supervise and mentor technicians in the contouring and shaping of anterior and posterior restorations.
Ensure restorations meet functional and anatomical accuracy in occlusion and morphology.
Set the standard for lifelike esthetics using advanced porcelain techniques.
Quality Assurance & Aesthetic Excellence
Maintain and enforce high standards in shade matching, texture, translucency, and overall esthetic finish.
Oversee quality control checks and coordinate with QC to reduce adjustments and remakes.
Review cases for consistency and coach team members on achieving optimal esthetic results.
Production Management
Monitor workflow to balance quality and production timelines.
Implement and uphold protocols to ensure efficient, consistent turnaround of cases.
Lead the integration of digital workflows, CAD/CAM processes, and modern ceramic systems.
Team Collaboration & Training
Serve as the bridge between technicians, QC, and upper management to improve outcomes and communication.
Support the ongoing training and development of junior technicians and new team members.
Stay current on industry advancements, sharing knowledge to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Qualifications
3+ years as a porcelain or ceramic technician, with proven leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
Advanced contouring and morphology skills with a strong focus on anterior esthetics.
Ability to manage a team, set priorities, and drive performance.
Strong eye for shade, shape, and subtle esthetic elements.
Efficient, organized, and reliable under deadlines.
Bonus: Familiarity with stain & glaze techniques, digital ceramics, and CAD/CAM systems.
