Job Description:
This job is responsible for supporting analytical work efforts for various projects within a Line of Business or business discipline. Key responsibilities include leveraging databases to acquire client and performance data, transforming extracted data into meaningful insights and trends, and delivering those insights to leaders to make complex business decisions. Job expectations include working with business partners to understand, coordinate, and deliver agreed upon priorities while communicating complex data outputs and delivering the appropriate summary and data required.
The Analytics, Modeling and Insights organization at Bank of America is looking for a Data Scientist that is a self-starter who can translate complex concepts and generate actionable insights. Our team is unique in that we look at all clients (Consumer - Retail, Preferred & Small Business and Wealth Management - Merrill & Private). We delve into all aspects of the customers’ financial lives, including how they join the bank, product ownership, balances held, and what matters most to them. We also look at their channel behaviors such as financial center visits, digital usage, and competitor payments as well as wealth potential. Ultimately, we end up being specialists in profitability, and dig deep into both revenue and expenses to determine what drives a profitable relationship. In this role, you will be expected to work with fellow data scientists, internal strategy, technology, product, and policy partners to develop advanced analytical solutions in support of a variety of deepening, acquisition and retention strategies. This includes a wide variety of analytical projects including customer profiling and segmentation, market opportunity sizing and generating curated presentations with meaningful, insightful, and actionable findings. The analyst will leverage multiple databases to acquire customer behavioral data for analysis to answer business questions, solve complex problems, interpret/summarize output and communicate results to business partners and senior leaders to help drive business decisions and processes.
The person taking this role will be responsible for:
Performing client analysis aimed at building insights to support the segmentation strategies for Consumer, Wealth Management Small Business and Business Banking
Analyze specialized groups such as New to Bank, Hispanic/Latino, student, military and age generation subsets covering a wide variety of analytical projects including customer profiling, segmentation and market opportunity sizing.
Have experience using tools such as Python, Spark and SAS to extract, transform and build analytic datasets to understand longitudinal connected client behaviors
Leverage both supervised and unsupervised learning frameworks to understand and segment client behavior
Presentation of work will be to all levels of the organization including senior leadership by generating client presentations with meaningful, insightful, and actionable findings

Required Qualifications:
1-2 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or related role
Experience with Statistical Modeling and Machine Learning techniques
Should be well-versed in a variety of programming languages Python/SAS, SQL, Data frame manipulation and familiarity with Machine Learning Frameworks
Ability to extract data using a variety of a programming languages such as SQL, SAS, Python with knowledge of both relational and non -relational database systems
Ability to successfully communicate strategic information and insights using software such as Power Point, Word and Outlook as well as oral presentation
Desired Qualifications:
SharePoint, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Agile Tools (JIRA, Confluence etc), Tableau
Experience with Java, Spark/Scala via command line, Python or other software applications
Project planning experience, including project scoping, timing needs, and reporting
Ability to understand and implement techniques discussed in machine learning research papers
Advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or other related field

Pay range
$82,200.00 - $117,900.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
Discretionary incentive eligible
This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
