Job Overview:

Directly manage a 44-bed skilled nursing unit, provide direct nursing care to the residents, and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and nurses. Such guidance must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards and required by the Director of Nursing to always maintain the highest degree of quality care.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Currently licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of South Carolina.

3+ years nursing experience required; 5+ years nursing experience preferred.

2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.

Good computer skills and ability to use an electronic medical records system.

Duties:

Supervise licensed and non-licensed nursing staff. Ensure quality of care by making rounds to determine effectiveness of care, resident satisfaction, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Demonstrate the knowledge and clinical expertise to effectively supervise all nursing activities in the facility on your assigned unit.

Provide explanation of nursing policies and procedures and assistance to staff to ensure ongoing understanding and training.

With Director of Nursing (DON) and Assisted Director of Nursing (ADON), participate in evaluation, coaching, discipline, and motivation of staff. Conducts staff meetings and training as needed.

Communicate on regular basis with Director of Nursing and/or administration regarding observations and suggestions of problem areas, resident and employee activities, concerns, needs, etc.

Provide explanation of nursing care to residents and families according to procedures. Provide instructions relating to medical care as appropriate.

Administer direct and/or emergency care when necessary. Respond to emergency needs of residents. Contact emergency medical services for assistance when required.

Plan and assign employees to the work schedule while assisting in obtaining replacements for staff as needed, including working on the floor to fulfill coverage.

Actively review and manage care plans and team conferences for the unit.

Assist in orientation of new nursing personnel and reinforce training standards to maintain high quality of care.

Assure the functional and sanitary maintenance of the nursing units and equipment. Report routine and emergency maintenance needs according to established procedures.

Assure the safety and security of patients through the proper use of equipment, safety devices, and by knowing and following fire, safety and disaster procedures.

Communicate with other department supervisors, physicians, consultants, staff, residents, and families to coordinate care of residents.

Designs, promotes, and organizes resident education and counseling based on health needs.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Weekend and On-Call Rotation
