Purpose

Execution of a selection of routine tests/productions on seed and plant material, according to precise regulations and protocols, directions and/or instructions, to establish (product) quality data and/or as part of research programmes.

Key accountabilities

1. Independent execution and assessment of a selection of routine tests/productions and the administrative processing thereof.

2. Recording of own results in designated systems and signalling abnormalities.

3. Correct use of all basic equipment and simple troubleshooting of this equipment.

4. Reading, understanding, interpreting, applying and selecting all protocols for the tests/productions to be executed, and signalling errors. 5. Planning of own daily activities and, where appropriate, the activities of lower level Laboratory Technicians.

6. Induction and functional guidance of lower level Laboratory Technicians, and possibly interns.

7. Co-responsible for a healthy and safe work environment.

* Ability to work with all relevant systems/basic equipment

* Ability to work with different crops and chemicals in the prescribed and safe manner

* Proficient in the local and English language, both written and verbal
