Title: QA Technician I (Defect Analysis, Precision Analysis)
Reports to: Defect Analysis Manager
Location: Holland, MI

Job Summary:
Quality Assurance Technician will work in a lab setting using analytical equipment and computerized systems to evaluate and test samples throughout the lithium-ion battery incoming process. They are responsible for analysis lithium-ion battery (small, medium/large Cell, ESS) and BMS (Battery Management System) related failure parts found accident site, internal and external failure samples. Ultimately, it organizes the analysis results and serves to help find the root cause.
Responsibilities:
Utilize advanced analysis tools and software such as SEM/EDS, XRD, Ion-Miller(Cross sectional MC), Cell/ Module CT(X-ray), GC-MS, Microscopy etc., to perform precise analysis of the physical and chemical properties of battery cell and modules
Develop experimental plans for battery cell performance testing, design and conduct experiments to collect and analyze data systematically.
Quantify and document battery cell characteristics and performance based on experimental findings.
Verify daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations for all equipment are complete and properly documented
Cell/Module/Pack tear down analysis and reporting
Report investigation/test/containment results in a clear, concise, and in a timely manner to the appropriate Supervisor
Training QA Technicians on testing equipment and material
Verify correct data to ensure a quality product.
Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity.
Analyze data from measuring devices.
Complete daily documentation and audits, as required by position.
Ensure work is completed in a safe manner & maintain a safe working environment.
Utilize a variety of required PPE to ensure your safety within the plant, during the incoming process
Position requires the following: Nitrile gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, P95 Particulate mask, disposable sleeves, goggles, face shield, Cryogen apron and gloves, and Ansell gloves, etc.
Ability to wear a full respirator
Maintain 5S and 3R standards
Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements
Participate in, and successfully complete, any and all training requirements
Document analysis results accurately and clearly, preparing technical reports to communicate findings to internal team.
Maintain effective communication with other departments and teams, ensuring clear understanding and transmission of technical information.
Verify that daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations for all equipment are completed and properly documented
Maintain 5S and 3R workplace standards.
Report equipment tests and analysis results clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner
to the appropriate engineer or team leader.
Regularly inspect equipment to ensure proper functionality and normal operation.
Perform daily documentation and audits as required by the role.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Associates degree preferred
Willingness to participate in training including technical
(Minimum of 2 years) Experience in laboratory equipment or machinery maintenance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Basic computer skills required.
Experience:
1 to 3+ years of experience as a quality technician and/or possessing an Associate Degree or higher in the battery field
Experience with instrumentation and data collection
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (primarily MS Excel PowerPoint, and Word)
Basic computer skills required
Basic math skills required.
Ability to read and interpret graphs and measurements required
