Digital Media Coordinator

Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Communications Manager, this position will support the creation, publication, monitoring, evaluation, and management of the Museum’s social media content on digital platforms to build awareness, increase visibility, and promote the robust lineup of events and programs at the Museum. The role will be responsible for working cross departmentally to organize, collect, and create digital content that tells the story of the institution.

Essential Functions:
Effectively build working relationships and strategic partnerships across the Museum to develop and implement innovative digital content.
Research, write, create, and schedule content across all social channels.
Create compelling and high-quality content to promote the Museum’s mission, collection, exhibitions, events, programs, and initiatives through both organic and paid social media, including (but not limited to) live interviews, short videos, and still photography.
Coordinate content creation through various departments and external contributors for social media purposes.
Schedule placement of content on digital platforms to include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social channels as necessary.
Maintain the Chrysler Museum’s brand voice and message strategy across all social channels.
Assist Communications Manager in creation of regular email newsletters.
Assisting with the Museum’s website to include content development, troubleshooting, and visitor online experience. Keep event calendar current.
Research, cultivate, and manage creator/influencer relationships and events.
Stay abreast of digital communication best practices and methodologies and serve as a knowledgeable and accessible resource to Museum staff.
Analyze social media metrics and generate quarterly reports to establish benchmarks and inform strategy
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BA/BS or equivalent related work experience.
Familiarity with paid social media platforms.
Minimum of two years of experience engaging target audiences through various social media platforms, preferably in the museum/cultural field.
Excellent writing, copy editing, and proofreading abilities with an eye for details and inconsistencies, both in writing and style.
Commitment to approaching all projects through a DEIA lens.
Flexible schedule and availability to work afterhours and weekends.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, coupled with strong initiative and willingness to take on projects and run with them.
Knowledge of inter-browser/cross-platform compatibility.
Ability to handle multiple, collaborative, high-priority projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines and budget.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, video and photo-editing software.
Working knowledge of various CRM databases and reporting tools, Trello and WordPress.
Basic graphics skills.
Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook, and/or content style guides generally.
Working Conditions:
This position will work in a busy environment, subject to frequent interruptions, and will interface regularly with the public. Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry file boxes and other awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs., including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
