Temp. Program Assistant/ Data Entry:

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County’s need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.

Job Description:

The Temporary Program Assistant,/ Data Entry position will provide ongoing support for the Information Technology (IT) Division. This role involves transferring data from physical and/or electronic documents into our digital systems (primarily Yardi), updating and verifying existing information, and assisting with large-scale data entry projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, adept at using office equipment, and capable of handling a variety of administrative and data-related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of one year of administrative assistance and data entry.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of data entry systems and software, including familiarity with Yardi or similar databases.

Strong spreadsheet skills, including the ability to create, update, and organize data using tools like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Proficient in transferring data from physical documents to digital formats with a high level of accuracy.

Ability to verify and update customer information to maintain up-to-date records.

Strong attention to detail when reviewing data for completeness, errors, or outdated information.

Skilled in organizing and maintaining electronic and physical filing systems.

Experience operating standard office equipment, such as scanners, printers, and copiers.

Capable of performing data backups and ensuring data is securely stored.

Comfortable conducting file research and cross-checking data as needed.

Efficient and accurate typing skills, with the ability to input large volumes of data quickly.

Flexible and adaptable, able to assist with special projects or provide support across departments as needed.

Able to work independently and manage time effectively, with minimal supervision.

Basic administrative skills, including handling paperwork, organizing tasks, and supporting team operations.

Willingness to travel occasionally, with travel expenses reimbursed.

Strong problem-solving abilities when identifying discrepancies or incomplete information
