Job Description
Recovery Center of Ohio's mission is to help individuals reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction to alcohol and other drugs and to reduce the incidence of addiction in future generations. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Peer Support Specialist uses their personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with clients, acting as a mentor. As someone who successfully managed their own recovery, the Peer Support Specialist acts as a role model for recovery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with client arrival and departure
Assist with client transportation
Coordinate with treatment team for client care
Assist clients with connecting to community organizations, resources, and any other supports needed to promote growth and recovery
Provide a model and mentorship for clients
Assist clients in identifying personal interests, goals, strengths, and areas for growth in recovery
Provide recovery education to clients for every phase of recovery journey
Develop and maintain relationships with community groups and agencies
Promote client self-advocacy
Requirements
Peer Support Certification-Required
Current Adult CPR and First Aid Certification
Understanding of the fundamentals of addiction and community resources (ex. 12-step programs)
Strong interpersonal and engagement skills
Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines to protect client confidentiality
Strong computer skills
Ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony

Education:
High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
Certified Recovery Specialist (Required)
