MBS is hiring a SQL DBA in Columbus, OH. This position is a full-time, temp to hire opportunity.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage distributed SQL servers in multi-datacenter environments.
Provide Tier III technical support and troubleshoot complex issues.
Monitor daily SQL operations and performance.
Recommend and implement solutions for optimization.
Configure SQL services (e.g., security, JDBC, clusters).
Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
Build and maintain new SQL environments.
Assist developers with SQL design and programming.
Support code deployments in dev/test/prod environments.
Work with network, IIS, and storage teams on configurations.
Participate in design/implementation meetings and cross-functional projects.
Support tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Bitbucket, Maven, Nginx, etc.
Design and configure cluster nodes and interconnects.
Implement log shipping, replication, standby servers, and tune load balancing.
Contribute to database architecture, capacity planning, and resource management.
Lead risk mitigation and compliance adherence.
Propose design/process improvements for cost/performance.
Drive database automation and enforce best practices.
Lead meetings, guide junior staff, and document project plans.
Communicate with clients on deployments and upgrades.
Work with virtualized environments (Unix/Linux/AIX).
Modify storage structures as business needs evolve.
REQUIREMENTS
SQL Server DBA certification is preferred
Must be very dependable and experienced SQL DBA to work with SQL apps within the Cloud environment
Experience as SQL Server DBA
Maintaining SQL database within the Azure Cloud
4 years of college
Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
Communication skills.
