A Day in the Life of a Healthcare Tech Manager
Works under the supervision of the Executive Director of Information Technology and is directly responsible for the testing, repair, and preventive maintenance of all Cheyenne Regional Medical Center's (CRMC) patient care equipment located in all CRMC's facilities, outlying clinics, and contracted doctor's offices. This position implements programs and policies related to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of a Biomedical Engineering Department.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:
Stays current with The Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care standards, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) directives, applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and other regulations as they relate to the compliant operation of modern health care facilities.
Strategically plans, directs and develops all areas of medical equipment maintenance in support of the Integrated Delivery System's (IDS) mission and vision.
Provides leadership to meet operational and fiscal objectives for all services provided by the department. Ensures compliance with codes and regulations to establish the safe and efficient operations of patient-care equipment, including preventive maintenance and repairs, professional education, healthcare innovations, and clinical research support.
Ensures all work orders are assigned and completed in a timely manner.
Reviews work order reports and open work orders for completeness and accuracy; responsible for following-up on open work orders and obtaining parts for repairs.
Hires and supervises Biomedical staff; assigns and schedules work; monitors work performance; and conducts personnel actions including performance reviews, disciplinary action, dismissals, and schedule management. Provides technical and non-technical assistance to assigned staff as needed.
Provides operational leadership and has budget responsibilities. Adheres to established leadership competencies and service standards and reinforces these principles with subordinates.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of risk-based analysis and quality maintenance standards
Ability to explain electronic component theory, the different types of medical equipment and their uses, and use schematic-based troubleshooting
Working knowledge of budgeting processes, asset management, scheduling and productivity reports
Ability to establish benchmarking standards for equipment performance/reliability and staff evaluations
Knowledge in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to work independently and use creativity to solve problems
Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills and use of sound judgment
Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations
Here is What You Need:
Education or Certificate (must meet all of one of the following):
Associate’s Degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, electronics, or related field
Biomedical Equipment Technician certificate from the Department of Defense (DoD)
Two (2) or more years of leadership and/or management experience (may be concurrent)
Five (5) or more years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician in a hospital setting (may be concurrent)
Nice to Have:
Current Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CTHM) certification from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
