Platform Support Engineer (Java Developer with Oracle Coherence, Production Support)

One of our Client partners is seeking a Platform Support Engineer (Java Developer with Oracle Coherence, Production Support) to join our Technology team in Charlotte, NC. This role focuses on supporting and enhancing critical platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of applications leveraging Java, Oracle Coherence, and production support processes. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions for our business partners.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support & Troubleshooting: Act as an escalation point for production issues, providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution for applications built on Java and Oracle Coherence, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Platform Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and optimize distributed systems, including low-latency cache infrastructure using Oracle Coherence, to support high-volume transactional systems.

Development & Enhancement: Design, develop, and implement Java-based solutions, including bug fixes, performance optimizations, and new features, adhering to Wells Fargo’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards.

Incident Management: Utilize incident management tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and Wells Fargo’s change control processes (e.g., PAC2000) to track, resolve, and document production issues and changes.

Collaboration: Partner with development teams, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and risk management standards.

Performance Tuning: Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks in Java applications and Oracle Coherence grids, optimizing batch processing and end-user interactions.

Documentation & Mentorship: Develop technical documentation, user guides, and runbooks, and provide guidance to less experienced team members on production support best practices and Oracle Coherence usage.

Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all activities comply with Wells Fargo’s risk, compliance, and security policies, including proactive monitoring, issue escalation, and adherence to regulatory requirements.Required Qualifications

Experience: Over all 10+ years of which 5+ years of application development and production support experience, with at least 3 years focused on Java development and Oracle Coherence.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Java (J2EE, Spring, Hibernate) and object-oriented programming.

Hands-on experience with Oracle Coherence for distributed caching and in-memory data grid solutions.

Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and SQL/PL-SQL.

Familiarity with UNIX/Linux scripting for automation and troubleshooting.

Experience with SDLC tools and processes, including version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.

Production Support: Proven ability to manage and resolve production incidents in a high-visibility, time-sensitive environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.Desired Qualifications

10+ years of experience in Java development and production support within the financial services industry.

Knowledge of capital markets, counterparty credit risk, or investment banking domains.

Experience with additional technologies such as Web Services, Apache, MQ, or Hadoop.

Familiarity with Wells Fargo’s internal tools (e.g., PAC2000, EACO) for change and issue management.

Strong understanding of performance tuning for Oracle Coherence and Java applications.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Coherence, Java SE/EE, or AWS/Google Cloud).

Full-time
