Your Role:
Reports into Managing Director, Korea and working closely with Korea Team, regional, and global A&R Creative teams to ensure that the company’s A&R initiatives and activities are aligned with the overall company vision.
The Director, A&R, Korea will be responsible for managing the Korea A&R Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing the company’s A&R and creative strategies/plan, identifying, and signing new talents, and overseeing the development of new music projects for the Korea market.
Here you'll get to:
Collaborate with the regional and global A&R and creative team to ensure that the company’s A&R strategies are aligned with the overall company vision.
Plan and drive the company’s A&R and creative strategies in Korea.
Identify and sign writers and OPs in Korea.
Oversee and monitor the development of our writer/publisher roster.
Build and maintain relationships with writers, key industry contacts in the responsible market.
Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
Develop and motivate local A&R team to build and strengthen capabilities and expertise.
Reviews new songs and related materials, canvasses prominent contemporary musical artists, orchestras, groups, instrumentalists, and vocalists, to record or re-record present Company owned songs and music for re-release or new songs or material.
Drive and oversee the activities between the Company and songwriters, Record Companies, and potential partners, for purposes of collaborations on existing/new songs and material.
Organize and execute local, regional, and global songwriting sessions/camps in collaboration with WCM global teams and writers.
Develops and implements A&R projects designed to generate maximum return on the Company’s properties.
Work closely with the regional Legal and Admin Departments relative to contracts and/or copyrights.
Manage and administer contracts and documentations with KOMCA.
May prepare reports when required.
We'd love it if you also had:
Bachelor’s degree in music or related field.
At least 5-8 years of solid experience in A&R and/or creative roles in the music/music publishing industry.
Strong network in music publishing and/or production.
Proven track record of identifying and signing successful artists and/or songwriters.
Demonstrate strong management skills and experience with team management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Fluency in English, and Korean. Any other language spoken in the Asia-Pacific region is a plus.
Candidates with less experience may be considered for Senior Manager/Manager level.
