Job Summary:
The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for developing a vision and implementing an action plan for volunteerism, mobilizing and coordinating volunteers to enhance the vision and mission of The Education Foundation of Collier County - Champions For Learning and introducing and ensuring effective volunteer management practices and standards. The Volunteer Manager ensures the positive and effective onboarding and management of volunteers resulting in a world-class volunteer experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for recruiting and onboarding volunteers for the Foundation. Serve as first point of contact for incoming volunteer inquiries and interest, and internally connect as appropriate. In collaboration with other departments, coordinate volunteer role placement, schedules, and role descriptions for all volunteers.
Develop recruitment and retention strategies for the cultivation of volunteers to meet the organization’s volunteer workforce needs.
Oversee the volunteer lifecycle including the application process, onboarding, and the volunteer stewardship process. This includes collecting and incorporating volunteer feedback into a continuous improvement model.
Manage the execution of all volunteer information sessions and interviews to engage new individuals.
Identify, organize, and support community outreach opportunities/experiences and lead with presentations such as tours, open houses, etc.
Continuously update and refine presentation, training, and outreach materials.
In conjunction with the marketing team and program staff, implement communication strategies to support the engagement, recruitment, and onboarding of volunteers.
Manage the volunteer databases (Get Connected and Take Stock in Children) of each volunteer ensuring integration with Raisers Edge. Use various digital databases and ensure timely and accurate compliance with screening, record keeping of skills and interests, and recording of volunteer hours in accordance with organizational protocols.
Contribute to development, cultivation, grant writing, and outcome reporting as appropriate.
Recruit volunteers for committee positions including fundraising and selections. Develop committee job descriptions, protocols, and event procedures. Develop, lead, and support the work of all volunteer Committees in executing recruitment and retention priorities and maintaining an appropriate committee roster.
Support the development and management of the annual work plan and MOU to engage individuals with Champions For Learning and Collier County Public Schools through entrepreneurship related volunteer roles.
Serve as a liaison between Champions For Learning and Collier County Public Schools to ensure volunteers are engaged in a timely manner, connected to activities that fulfill the needs of the organization, schools, and teachers.
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of Champions For Learning strategic plans and program offerings, resources available, and forecast a volunteer staffing plan to meet those needs.
Responsibilities as it relates to the Take Stock in Children Program:
The Mentor Coordinator will:
Ensure that all mentors are matched with students in a timely manner and that sessions are conducted on school property for one hour each week.
Collect and report mentor sessions.
Ensure that potential mentors participate in a background check in a timely manner as required by state law.
Offer comprehensive mentor training that defines roles and responsibilities; clarifies Take Stock in Children mentoring guidelines and expectations; and provides tools and suggested activities.
Execute communication strategies to recruit volunteer mentors.
Communicate regularly with all mentors by phone, email, mailing, surveys, newsletters, flyers, etc.
Plan and execute mentor appreciation, recognition, retention, and training activities.
Respond to mentor/mentee rematch needs by making a timely rematch to an eligible mentor, facilitating the virtual or in-person meet & greet between mentor and mentee (with support from the assigned College & Career Coordinator).
Collect, document and report data on key performance indicators, including student data, in the areas of mentor recruitment, participation, application processing, screening, training, matching, and session frequency, as well as college and career readiness.
Collaborate with Take Stock in Children College Success Coaches, school coordinators, and liaisons to develop successful mentor/mentee relationships.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Functional expertise in Get Connected or volunteer resource management system.
At least two years related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to occasionally travel and work evenings/weekends as required.
Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
