Summary
In this role, you will oversee the fire protection systems, vendor coordination, and fire risk management at our site’s Disaster Prevention Center. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and local fire codes. The ideal candidate will have a strong fire engineering background with experience in fire system design and maintenance, as well as the ability to lead fire safety initiatives in a high-risk industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
Manage, inspect, and oversee maintenance of fire suppression systems, fire alarms, gas detection systems, and fire sprinklers
Oversee all vendor-related fire system work, including inspections, maintenance, and service contracts
Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, FM Global, and local fire codes
Oversee fire system design improvements, layout modifications, and risk mitigation strategies
Collaborate with engineering teams on fire-rated construction, explosion protection, and egress planning
Issue fire system work permits for maintenance, repairs, and modifications
Oversee vendor work to ensure it meets quality, safety, and contractual standards
Review vendor invoices, identifying and disputing any unnecessary charges
Coordinate fire suppression system projects to minimize disruption while maintaining system integrity
Maintain detailed records of vendor work, inspections, and repairs for compliance tracking
Work with the established maintenance flowchart to identify repairs and maintenance tasks that can be handled in-house
Develop step-by-step repair and maintenance guides for fire system components
Implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime
Oversee the fire system’s integration with the Fire Dispatch Center, ensuring proper alarm monitoring and response coordination
Train dispatchers on fire system operations, emergency notification procedures, and alarm interpretation
Schedule and coordinate fire system testing, upgrades, and compliance inspections
Conduct fire risk assessments to identify hazards and implement fire engineering solutions
Develop strategies for lithium battery fire prevention, thermal runaway mitigation, and explosion protection
Ensure compliance with hot work permitting and fire prevention best practicesMaintain cleanliness at work site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (required)
Strong knowledge of fire suppression, alarm systems, and gas detection technologies
Experience with fire system design, troubleshooting, and vendor management
Proficiency in NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, FM Global guidelines, International Fire Code (IFC), ISO fire safety standards, MIOSHA regulations, and local fire codes
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, fire system maintenance, or fire safety management in an industrial setting
7 to 10+ years of emergency management experience
