Shepeard Community Blood Center is a 501(c) 3 non-profit center. We save lives by forging strong partnerships, providing an industry-leading donor experience, and maximizing every employee’s potential. We provided blood to 30+transfusion providers in more than 40 counties across Georgia and South Carolina. Local volunteers allow us to fulfill our lifesaving mission. We have multiple donor centers across Georgia and South Carolina, including locations in Augusta, Evans, Grovetown, Dublin, Warner Robins, and Aiken.

We are looking for a Fleet and Facilities Assistant to ensure the smooth operation of our mobile blood collection vehicles and fixed sites. This role encompasses vehicle maintenance, supply ordering/delivery, and facilities maintenance, adhering to business and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management:

Oversee maintenance, inspection, and repair schedules for all mobile blood collection vehicles and support fleet.

Ensure vehicles comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements.

Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, inspections, repairs, and registration.

Coordinate with mobile blood drive teams to schedule vehicle availability and rotation.

Manage relationships with service vendors and negotiate contracts for vehicle maintenance.

Serve as the primary contact for all mobile blood collection vehicles and the support fleet.

Train relevant staff on proper mobile Blood Mobile operation, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

Facilities Management:

Supervise maintenance and repairs of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building exteriors.

Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address safety, security, and compliance issues.

Coordinate janitorial services, landscaping, and waste management.

Ensure all blood collection sites, donor areas, and storage spaces meet cleanliness and operational standards.

Serve as the primary contact for building-related emergencies, repairs, and upgrades.

Train relevant staff on proper vehicle and facility use, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

Assist with the setup and staging of the blood drive supplies needed for upcoming blood drives.

Respond to facility or vehicle issues outside of standard business hours as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience/Requirements:

Vocational experience in automotive, carpentry, building repairs, and purchasing preferred.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fleet and/or facility management, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit environment.

Strong understanding of DOT compliance and building systems.

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Proficiency with maintenance management software, Microsoft Office, procurement, and fleet tracking tools.

Computer skills needed to manage the inventory system, QC records, and logs.

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Must meet driver history and safety requirements to be covered by Shepeard’s group auto insurance policy.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, vendors, community partners, and regulatory agencies.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must have a clean driving record and a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Physical Skills/Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, reach, kneel, bend, and twist for long periods.

Must be able to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs.).

Working Conditions:

Works in a community blood center with moderate exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Exposure to different environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Required to lift and move heavy objects not to exceed 50 pounds.

Perform tasks that vary daily.
