Brief Job Description: Acuity Innovations is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to join our team in Aurora, CO at Buckley Space Force Base. An active Top Secret clearance is required.
As a Systems Engineer with USSF Space Sensings Next Generation Space-Based Missile Warning and Track (MWT) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Support you will play a crucial role in safeguarding national security by ensuring the integrity and robustness of Next-Generation MWT ground segment systems. You will be at the forefront of Missile Warning and tracking, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence, working to maintain and enhance the superiority of DoD's OPIR capabilities in an ever-evolving threat landscape.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain system models using industry-standard tools
Implement and iterate model-based systems engineering methodologies for Space-Based MWT ground segment systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate subsystem models for Space-Based MWT ground system projects
Employ model-based techniques to enhance the verification and validation process.
Establish and maintain traceability between system requirements and the model for Space-Based MWT ground systems
Contribute to the development of clear and comprehensive system requirements for the Next-Generation Space-Based MWT ground segment
Work closely with system architects, engineers, and stakeholders to capture and refine system requirements
Generate documentation for models, ensuring alignment with industry standards and Space-Based MWT ground system protocols
Required Skills & Experiences:
Bachelor's of Science Degree and/or 5 to 10 years of experience in a like discipline
4+ years of experience performing systems engineering analysis and developing systems engineering products for satellite systems
Experience leading a team for development of technical specifications, interface control documents, and integration, and test plans and schedules for satellite systems
Experience leading a team to conduct or support space system Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and System Verification Reviews (SVRs)
Experience using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Knowledge of systems engineering standards, including IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2
Ability to communicate and establish collaborative relationships with government clients, Federally Funded Research and Developmental Centers (FFRDC), and associate contractor teammates to achieve program goals
Ability to be highly motivated and demonstrate a dynamic work ethic and strong desire to contribute to the DoD mission
Preferred Skills & Experiences:
Masters degree in a like discipline and/or 8 to 12 years of Experience in the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR), defense weather, and/or tactical ISR mission areas
Experience with OPIR payloads, space-based weather payloads, satellite busses, and satellite subsystems, including propulsion, thermal control, power, attitude control, TT&C, communications, data processing, and structures
Experience leading a team performing systems engineering, integration, and testing on space-based remote sensing systems
Experience leading a team using a Model-Based Systems Engineering approach to manage system definitions and technical baselines
Knowledge of DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02
Knowledge of Agile Methodologies
INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certifications, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP Certifications
