PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To provide On Track Safety for non-railroad construction work activities on active railway property and through construction zones. Using specific railway operating rules, instructions and techniques, this position ensures that employees and contractors clear the working zone prior to the approach of a train minimizing any delays to scheduled railway operations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Be committed to going Home Safe after each shift and embracing CPKC’s safety culture by adhering to company policies and procedures

Conduct daily job briefings in order that all contractors understand site specific instructions prior to commencing work

Review the work site, consult with Supervisor and or contractors to understand work being conducted, and any potential hazards to train operations

Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations

Perform related administrative duties and proper documentation

This is a 3 year temporary position, could be considered for other openings after completion

Normal tour of duty 0700 – 1500, overtime and occasional night shifts are available

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent

A valid in state drivers’ license, reliable transportation to and from work

Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment working with groups within railroad right of way

Prior outdoor work experience, ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Medical Requirements:

CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.
