JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING INTERN
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE
REPORTS TO: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT
Job Summary:
As an accounting Intern you will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks and supporting the finance team. The major end result of this job position is to provide accurate and timely financial information to the finance team. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions and develop your skills in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Support with travel expense processing
Process confidential data and information according to company guidelines.
Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis
Assist with supporting year-end financial audits and income tax returns
Perform other accounting duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently pursuing an associates or bachelor's degree in accounting
Desire to work in an aerospace and defense manufacturing environment
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in accounting
Previous internship or work experience in accounting
Knowledge of accounting software such as Deltek Costpoint and/or QuickBooks
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Self-motivated and proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the organization.
Familiarity with the aerospace/manufacturing industry
Familiarity with Federal Government Contracting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Ability to traverse manufacturing facility
