Blandford Nature Center is a nonprofit organization that sits on 364 acres of beautiful nature in Grand Rapids, MI is looking for an enthusiastic, mission-driven individual to join our team and help us improve and optimize our accounting process as the Accountant.

As the Accountant, who has the passion for nonprofit work, a subject matter expert in accounting and finance, along with being able to take initiative to improve the finance process. This position works closely with the leadership team include our CEO and board of directors along with the broader Blandford team managing daily accounting and finance functions, lead process budgeting, processing payroll, preparing reports both strategic direction and daily operations.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Mange core accounting functions: accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliation and interdepartmental financial reconciliation.

Prepare and present accurate financial reports, support donor and grand reporting, and assist in budgeting and financial planning with the CEO.

Monitor cash flow, assist in forecasting, and ensure compliance with donor restrictions and financial regulations.

Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and maintain financial records according to retention policies and ensure readiness for review.

Support leadership with administrative tasks, vendor relationships and process improvement in financial workflows.

Qualifications & Nice to Haves:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

5+ years of finance and accounting experience.

Experienced knowledge of GAAP guidelines.

Overseeing and processing payroll.

Working knowledge in QuickBooks Online.
