SUNY Ulster Professional Chemistry/Physics TutorPart-time; under 17.5 hours a week

Priority Screening: December 10, 2024 Position Summary:SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Professional Chemistry/Physics Tutor.

The tutor is charged with assisting and providing guidance to a diverse student body in chemistry and/or physics in person as well as remote video conference.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitate a group or one-on-one session with students.

Be familiar with the topics, teaching methods and requirements of faculty in the particular area of learning.

Work directly with faculty and inform them of the progress of their students.

Be familiar with Google Meet or Zoom video conferencing.

Assist with the preparation of administrative reports.

Attend professional development workshops.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry or Physics. Effective interpersonal communication skills. Teaching experience in chemistry and physics.

Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.

Salary: $22.86 an hour Application Process:The position is open until filled.
