Role and Team

Reporting to Mechanic Shop Manager or other designated manager, assist in leading Mechanical Services operations and supervise shop employees to ensure maximum production, volume, profitability in accordance with company guidelines and initiatives.. Direct the work in an efficient and productive manner to the standards required for quality work and service to the auction customers. Must know, practice, and ensure that company values, policies, procedures, playbooks and applicable state and federal laws are followed at all times.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the assigned Mechanic shop ensuring efficient workflow that meets daily production standards

Oversee day-to-day activities of assigned team; identify team's strengths and weaknesses; determine areas of opportunity and the appropriate steps to improve.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain a safe and clean workspace

Ensure proper scheduling and staffing to meet operational and customer needs. Monitor and approve PTO requests, overtime, and employee schedules to ensure efficient auction operations.

Monitor inventory of parts and supplies, approving orders as necessary

Monitor shop budget and expenses, recommending cost-saving measures to Manager.

Coordinate staffing needs with Leadership

Develop and train staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support employee growth.

Monitor all training requirements for the department and ensure timely completion of all training required.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies and regulatory changes

Create a work and team environment that inspires positive communication, team cohesion, and adherence to Carvana's Values.

Engage assigned team, provide appropriate coaching, development and performance management; offer feedback and demonstrate desired skills. Proactively communicate information to team members, providing clear understanding of expectations, performance measures, and goals.

Prevent and resolve conflict among team members.

Monitor and ensure adherence to systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with all contractual customer, contractor and supplier agreements.

Responsible for supporting overall departmental goals. Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.

Practice and instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required.

A minimum of two (2) to (3) three years of supervision/management preferred. Previous auction or mechanic shop experience required.

Proficient computer skills.

Strong knowledge of automotive repair processes, quality standards, and equipment

Ability to work independently and exercise good business judgment and discretion to analyze and address opportunities.

Well-organized and responsible with an aptitude in problem-solving

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong multitasking skills along with the ability to adapt to changing work environments.

Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license and meet corporate driving standards..

Excel in a fast-pace, high-pressure environment where speed and quality are paramount.

Self-motivated in order to drive efficiency, teamwork, and the best customer experience possible.

Ability to always demonstrate professional behavior.

Leads through encouragement and coaching, navigates conflict through positive conflict resolution.

Ability to work in an automotive shop environment while sometimes being exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold).

The physical activity requirements of the position range from Light to Medium Physical Work.

Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable to definitions for Clerical, Administrative, Machine Operators (including inspection) positions.

Physical Working Condition:

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station/convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
