ABOUT BISHOP HARTLEY
Founded in 1957 by the Diocese of Columbus, Bishop Hartley High School is a Catholic, coed, college preparatory school serving east Columbus and its adjacent suburbs: Bexley, Whitehall, Canal Winchester, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, and Gahanna. We are accredited by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association and the State of Ohio. We exist to transform lives through the teachings of Jesus Christ within the Catholic tradition.
We implement our rigorous college preparatory curriculum in the context of a vibrant, diverse, and flourishing school community supported by our holistic approach to the formation of the human person, our thriving House System, and our foundational Six Pillars. Our most recent graduating class earned more than $33.3 million in academic scholarships and students completed a total of 21,848 hours of service. In 2023-2024, enrollment exceeded 700 students, making the ratio of students to teachers approximately 12:1.
JOB SUMMARY
Our Notre Dame team provides effective educational support to students who have been diagnosed with a disability that affects their academic ability. This position supports all students who have a current IEP. In addition to supporting students on work towards their IEP goals, our Intervention Specialists are responsible for facilitating small groups with general education course work and providing testing accommodations. The Intervention Specialist will be responsible for monitoring students during tutoring periods, communicating with classroom teachers about course work, and updating student families on progress. The Intervention Specialist will also be responsible for working closely with other members of the Intervention Team on a daily basis. Responsibilities include:
Monitoring students on IEP's during intervention periods by checking grades, working on IEP goals, and communicating with teachers and parents
Communicate individual student needs to the Student Services Team
Providing accommodations for students during classroom testing
Collecting and communicating data to student's home districts for progress reports and IEP meetings
Monitoring and reporting minutes of service for the Jon Peterson Scholarship Program
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by administration
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Intervention Specialist degree and a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license or the ability to obtain such a license prior to start date
Completion or verification of safe environment training and requirements necessary for employment in all Diocesan schools: VIRTUS training and a current FBI/BCI background check if not already completed for state licensure
Experience working with high school students in a school or a school support program setting
Ability to communicate often and effectively with team members
Ability to demonstrate flexibility with a variety of daily schedules and emergent tasks
